This post if for Chong....he complained enough about having to see John Clayton's face that I decided to post. Some of my co-workers and I were emailing eachother about hip hop this year, and we all decided to make a list of our top 10 favorite hip hop songs of the year. I embeded each song so you guys could hear all of em because most of em aren't really on the radio. Hope you enjoy. 10.T.I. - Why You Wanna This song is just so catchy to me. I'm haven't been a huge T.I. fan in the past, but this song just gets my attention whenever I hear it that I had to put it on the list. 9. The Game – Wouldn’t Get Far The Game's CD is one of the best West Coast CD's I've heard in years, and I just love this song. But I can't put up the song on my xanga, it's just too shady. 8. Murs – Silly Girl Murs is a new LA rapper, and I like him a lot. This song is awesome...I think I like it even morebecause it's was put together by my favorite producer, 9th Wonder. 7. Talib Kweli – Listen I think Talib is the probably one of the best MC's out, if not the best right now. This song just has a great beat and shows of Talib's lyrics and flow. 6. Ghostface feat. Wu-Tang Clan - 9 Milli Bros This is the best Wu-Tang song I've heard in years. It shows that all the guys are still at the top of their craft. 5. Lupe Fiasco – Hurt Me Soul
Lupe had my favorite album of the year, and I just love this song. It's really mellow, but shows the genius of Lupe's lyrics and his awareness of social issues. 4. Strange Fruit Project – Special
This song just reminded me of the greatness of east coast underground hip hop. Again produced by 9th Wonder. 3. Common Market – Connect For
I would have never guessed this song was by 2 white guys from Seattle, but I love the chill beat and how they flow together. 2. Nas – Can’t Forget About You This is just one of my favorite samples of all time. It's a great mix of a great MC with one of the most classic love songs of all time. Not a likely combo, but it works perfectly. 1. The Procussions feat. Talib Kweli – Miss January
The Procussions are a new group from NY and the first group for the new Rawkus Records. This song just reminded me of how great east coast hip hop was back in the late 90's. |
